MH x Mason Pearson
In my former life as a Fashion and Beauty Editor, I’ve seen it all (and tried it all) when it comes to beauty products. But the best thing I ever got wasn’t actually a product, it was great advice: My wax lady, Raisa, told me something in the early 90s that I have never forgotten. She said “I always buy the best because I can’t afford to buy anything twice.”
That sort of quality over quantity wisdom should apply to everything we buy, from sofas to sponges, because buying the best of its kind (in any category) is the best way to ensure you won’t have to buy it again. At least not for a long time.
The really good news is that “The Best” is not always out of reach. Some things that are the very best of their kind are actually downright affordable. When I see something that fills a need, solves a problem and looks good doing it, I’m buying. And so should you.
Mason Pearson brushes have been around since 1885. It’s not an exaggeration to say that they are the Rolls Royce of hairbrushes. They even come with their own little sidekick brush to clean them.
They’re pricey, to be sure. But how many brushes have you thrown out in the last decade? Uh-huh. I thought so. There’s a reason they’ve earned a place on every celebrity stylists’ list of Must Have Products: these are heirloom brushes. The patented air cushion pad and hand-made tufted bristles are firm, but the patented air cushion means they never pull or snag your hair. It’s truly like a scalp massage just brushing your hair!
Look after them, and they will last for decades. Totally worth the investment for something you use multiple times each day. Your hair will thank you for it.
