How To Get Deodorant Stains Out

How To Get Deodorant Stains Out

It's Monday morning and you’re running behind while getting ready for work. After four unsuccessful attempts, you’ve finally settled on an outfit, but catch a glimpse of yourself in the mirror only to realize you’ve smudged your deodorant all over your top. (Does Murphy’s Law have no mercy?!) You could throw it in the laundry and figure out a different outfit to wear—or you could try this 10-second trick for getting deodorant stains off your clothes instead.

Don’t throw in the towel, grab one! Then grab your bottle of Garment Groom, and spray once on a like-colored towel. (The key is to be sure the towel is barely even damp, so one spritz should do it.) Gently pat the towel on the shirt, rubbing only slightly to lift the deodorant off the fabric. The genius of Garment Groom is that you can shift a stain without taking off your clothes.

If the stain is more zebra-like, you may see better results from using a clean toothbrush or dish brush instead. For deodorant buildup that won’t come out in the wash, try this: Pre-treat the stain with a few spritzes of Garment Groom, then let it sit for 10 minutes. Then fill a container with five cups of water and half a cup of white vinegar. Soak the clothing in the mixture for 45-60 minutes, then brush at the stain gently with an old toothbrush, and launder as usual.

I’ve learned the hard way to make deodorant one of the last things I put on before leaving the house, but this trick always works in a pinch.
